This acrylic on canvas is from a series of still life works completed earlier this year.

The paintings were all of found flower arrangements that I noticed as I visited places and people I loved.

They are not formal arrangements, just nice little touches, for the enjoyment of the person who has casually popped a favourite bloom into a vase, to brighten a dining table, or someone else's day. 

This still life features roses arranged in a brass vase by my mother, in my old room in my parent's home.

The colours I chose to use reflected the light and surroundings, and the warmth I felt at being home in my old room.
