Animals are a favourite subject of Carol’s with New Zealand bird life featuring predominantly. The ever changing skies over Wellington also inspire her, and in many of her paintings the sky takes up most of the canvas.
About the Artist
Carol Theologo is an oil painter living in Wellington. She finds inspiration for her work in the lush vegetation and native wildlife of New Zealand and specialises in painting birds, animals and landscapes.
She spends hours walking in the bush and trys to capture some of the magic she feels in her paintings.
Over time Carol has developed her own style and technique in oils. She uses an oil medium to create different effects and draw into, scrape and shape the paint with various tools to reveal the layers below. She enjoys using thinly glazed layers that reveal some of the luminosity of the first layer of paint.
Carol is an active member of the Khandallah Art Group and the New Zealand Academy of Fine Art and her work has been exhibited at various galleries and art shows. She has work held in private collections throughout New Zealand and internationally.
